Sweet Talk in Beacon

On Monday Jan 15, 2007 Holistic Health and Nutrition Counselor Marika Blossfeldt will give a free interactive and fun talk on the many ways sugar affects our bodies and minds. The informative talk will take place fronm 6- 7pm at Beacon Natural Market, 348 Main Street, Beacon.

America is drowning in sugar. Sugar is the number one cause of America's weight problem as well as lack of nutrition and sets the stage for many devastating illnesses. However Sweet Talk is not at all heavy-handed - it is not designed to make anybody feel guilty about eating sugar - but rather looks at the phenomenon and attempts to explain the underlying causes that lead to sugar cravings.

Drawing from her vast knowledge of ancient wisdom as well as cutting edge scientific research, Marika Blossfeldt will give an insight into what sugar is, how it affects our immune system and why it leads to weight gain. She will discuss the relationship between sugar and stress as well as its effects on children. She will alert you to the many kinds of sugars, hiding behind fancy names in your daily food. Most importantly, she will teach you how to get a handle on what you eat and drink not through deprivation, will power or discipline but by understanding what causes sugar cravings and how to reduce them naturally.

If you are constantly craving sweets and would like to know why, this talk is a thought provoking eye opener. Healthy snacks will be provided.

Marika Blossfeldt, HHC, AADP, is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, New York and accredited as Holistic Health Counselor by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. As a passionate whole foods chef Marika grows her own herbs and vegetables and personally oversees the quality and deliciousness of all meals served to her guests.
