Gary Tutty's Retirement a Loss for our Community Dear Editor:
I read today that Putnam Valley's School Superintendent, Gary Tutty, will retire at the end of this school year. His retirement will be a loss for our school children and our community. Since Gary took over our schools he has handled all matters with professionalism, intelligence, and an obvious concern for the students and community.
He has also shown a great sense of humor, which has helped him tremendously when he was communicating his ideas to the town. He has the rare combination of being extremely intelligent yet very "down to earth." For all his education and experience, he is seen by everyone as being just a "regular guy."
Pam Adamovich, school nurse, said it best when she stated that Gary "brought the community together, not just the students in school, but the whole community and related well to all age groups. It will be very difficult to find another superintendent who cares as much about the community he serves."
I don't know what criteria the school board used when they determined that Gary was the right person for the job, but I hope they use the same standards when choosing his replacement. I sign this as Putnam Valley Councilman, and parent of 4 Putnam Valley School Students.
