Putnam County Department of Health Reminder: Not Too Late to Receive a Flu Shot

Don't be fooled by the lack of winter weather. Flu increases as the winter progresses. Therefore, it is very important for those persons who have not yet received a flu vaccine to get immunized as soon as possible.

The Putnam County Department of Health will be holding public flu clinics for persons 9 years of age and older at the following locations:

Wednesday, January 17, 2007 - Carmel Fire Department, Route 52 and Vink Drive, 3- 7pm

Thursday, January 18, 2007 - Putnam County Dept. of Health, 1 Geneva Road, Brewster, 9:30am-4:30pm

Wednesday, January 24, 2007 North Highlands Fire Dept., Fishkill Road, Cold Spring, 3- 7pm.

A doctor's prescription will be required for pregnant women. The cost of the flu vaccination will be $20 for persons under 60 years of age. Flu vaccination is free for persons 60 years and older and anyone younger who has a valid Medicare card.

Pneumonia vaccine will also be available free to those residents over 65 years of age. For residents under 65 years, a doctor's prescription is required and a $25 fee will be charged. Please continue to check the Putnam County Department of Health Flu Hotline at 845-278- 6130 for further updates.
