STAR Tax Rebate Deadline January 22
Taxpayers have until January 22 to apply for a STAR tax rebate and need to get their applications into the state Tax Department by filing form DTF-178. Anyone who has not received a rebate and feels that they are entitled to one can obtain the form from the Tax Department website www.nystax.gov , or calling the toll-free number 1-877-678- 2769, or visit their local assessor's office. The form must be signed by the local assessor to verify that the taxpayer is entitled to a STAR rebate.
Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, Chair of the Real Property Tax Committee, said: "The program has been very successful and I urge everyone to be sure that they participate in the program if they are qualified."
