Howland Library Hosts AARP Tax Preparation Service
AARP Tax-Aid, the free, volunteer-run tax preparation service for middle-and-lowincome taxpayers, with special attention to those aged 60 and older, opens its 39th season on Thursday, February 1, 2007. AARP Tax-Aide counselors help prepare federal and state returns at over 10,000 sites nationwide.
Howland Public Library in Beacon will offer this service on Mondays and Thursdays from February 1 through April 12, 2007. Appointments are necessary and can be made for: 10am, 11am, Noon, 1pm and 2pm. Call the Library at 831- 1134 extension 104 to schedule an appointment. You must bring your last income tax return, copies of all income statements, Social Security cards for all persons listed on your tax return, and a current picture ID to your appointment.
Because of the possibility of snow, sleet, and slippery roads, the Library may have to close when you have scheduled an appointment. Call the library if there is a chance of closing. A message will be left on the library's phone system; call 831-1134 and press 101 after the welcome message begins. The tax preparation program is administered through the AARP Foundation.
