Putnam Valley Man Arrested on Suspended License Charge
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the January 6, 2007 arrest of Gary Crosland, aged 45, of Putnam Valley, on a charge of driving with a suspended license in that Town. The Sheriff's Department reports that at about 11:27am on January 6th, Deputy Sheriff Jesse Wollman was patrolling in his cruiser on Oscawana Lake Road when he spotted a passing car with an expired inspection sticker. The deputy stopped the car and ran a computer check on the license status of its driver, Mr. Crosland. In doing so, the deputy learned that his driver license was suspended twice in 2006 for failures to answer traffic summonses.
Mr. Crosland was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor. That charge is punishable by up to thirty days in jail, a fine of up to $500, and further sanctions against the offender's driving privileges. The defendant was released on his own recognizance pending proceedings in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court.
