Holiday Gift-Giving to Local Needy Children by the Putnam County Children's Committee

Putnam County Children's Committee President Janet Canniff (standing) gives a holiday check for distribution to local foster children to Social Service Worker and Member Liz Cafiero
Since 1917 the Putnam County Children's Committee has been assisting needy children. As in past years, the com- mittee is continuing to use their tax-deductible donations, which were collected during the past year, for children's birthday gifts as well as holiday gifts to county children who are in foster care.

The committee also awards yearly college scholarships and contributes to CAP for their annual school supplies campaign. This all-volunteer group works with local agencies, schools and churches which recommend children in need of special help. When a child's situation seems helpless, the Children's Committee steps in. The picture shows President Janet Canniff presenting a check during the past holiday season to Department of Social Services Liaison, Liz Cafiero, to be given to local foster children to help them for their holiday shopping.

All donations to the Putnam County Children's Committee are tax deductible and are spent directly on the children. College scholarships will again be awarded in 2007, and those interested should contact their school's guidance department for applications. For more information about The Putnam County Children's Committee call President Janet Canniff at 845-225-3225 or write to the Putnam Children's Committee, Box 187, Carmel, NY, 10512.
