Discovery Center Looking for Donations of New and Recycled Items
The Putnam Children's Discovery Center, a not for profit, located at 854 Route 6 in Mahopac is looking for new and recycled items. During the twomonth collection period, the center will give a coupon booklet to each donor. Coupons, when used, will give the recipient over $100 in discounts. Coupons include $5 off on NYC Broadway Shows such as Jersey Boys, Wicked, and Mary Poppins and discounts on Discovery Center classes and Birthday Parties.
Donations are accepted Tues & Weds Noon-2:30 and Thursdays 10:30-2:30. If you need to make a Saturday drop-off, please call (845) 621-1260 ext 307 for a mutually agreeable time as most weekends are booked with birthday parties.
Things you might find in your home that are needed: "old" but in good condition building toys, such as LEGOS, Duplos, building bricks, blocks etc. and yarn , buttons and fabric. Additional used items needed: flat screen monitors for computers, DVD players, acoustic guitar in good condition, and other non-wind musical instruments in good condition. Please, no flutes, recorders etc that are "oral" and personal in nature.
New items needed: Elmers glue, glue sticks, glitter glue, construction paper, child friendly scissors, cooking oil, Borax laundry 20 mule, paper towels, plastic cutlery, plastic cups hot or cold, liquid hand soap in a push style dispenser, Windex, Mr Clean Liquid detergent, Swiffer Carpet Flick (refill packs), paper clips, HP ink cartridges sizes 93, 92, 96, 98, reams of white or colored paper and toilet Paper.
Recycled items: old cell phones, HP used laser or ink jet cartridges.
The Discovery Center will also award a coupon booklet to anyone making a donation of $10 or more. Donations by check payable to PCDC can be mailed to PCDC PO Box 222 Carmel, NY 10512 or credit cards can be faxed over with a signed letter designating the amount of donation, the credit card billing address and your name as it appears on the card to (845) 276-2078.
