A Great Celebration Was Held by Haldane's Class of '74
To the Editor:

Please forgive the lateness of my letter. I am the youngest of six children in my family and I am the only one who was born in Cold Spring, many, many years ago now. I moved away from the lower Hudson River Valley almost 30 years ago. Each time I come back, I wonder why I left such a beautiful place? I guess because the grass always looked greener, especially when you're young.

I was in town the weekend of October 7, 2006, to attend a reunion with my fellow classmates of Haldane Central High School. We are the graduating class of 1974 and we assembled to celebrate the cold, hard fact that each of us had turned or was turning 50 years old in 2006! Also in attendance were members of the classes of '75, '76, and '77 and their spouses and a few people from earlier graduating classes. And while it was heartening to see so many faces from the past, it was disappointing that so few from the class of '74 participated. Maybe we'll have a better turn out for our 40th reunion?!

I appreciate the efforts of my classmates who still reside in this magnificently beautiful village of Cold Spring who took the time to arrange our celebration: Phil Cotennec, Maria DiMeo, Veronica Farlow and Ralph Fleming as well as to the other class' members for making our collective celebration a whole lotta fun for everyone. I wish each of you a healthy, happy and above all, peaceful new year. Each of you is never far from my thoughts year in and year out.
