Mary C. Boys to Speak on Jewish-Christian Relations at Graymoor

Skinner and McAlpin Professor of Practical Theology at Union Theological Seminary Mary C. Boys will speak on "Jews and Christians: Contemplating a Complicated Relationship" at the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center on Thursday, February 15th at 7:30pm.

"Each year our respective holy days unmask the critical need to learn more about one another and develop insights that will heal memories and challenge us to move forward into the future with greater certainty," said Fr. James Gardiner, SA, Director of the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center. "This presentation was deliberately scheduled mid-way between Christmas and Holy Week - two times when misinformation has a tendency to gain the upper hand."

Boys is the author of four books including Jewish-Christian Dialogue: One Woman's Experience (1997), and Has God Only One Blessing? Judaism as a Source of Christian Self-Understanding (2000) and some seventy articles. She is a member of the boards of the Tanenbaum Foundation for Interreligious Understanding, the Suenens Foundation and the National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education. She serves as an adjunct faculty member of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and Teachers College, Columbia University and on the advisory committee for the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the United States Catholic Bishops. Since 1965, she has been a member of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, a congregation of Roman Catholic women.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center at 424-3671, ext. 2111.
