Robert Joseph Mangan
Robert Joseph Mangan age 91, was called to heaven on Sunday January 21st at his home in Cold Spring. Born In Minooka, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1915, He was the son of the late Patrick and Katherine (Kitty) Mangan. He was retired from the New York Central Railroad. Mr. Mangan was a Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps, having served in World War II, in Guadalcanal. He received a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
Upon returning from the South Pacific, he married his sweetheart, Jeanne Lawlor. Together they raised their family of nine children. Mr. Mangan was an avid golfer and reader. Mr. Mangan is predeceased by his two brothers in 1918, and his beloved wife Jeanne in 2002. Mr. Mangan is survived by his nine children. Mangan of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Jeanne Mangan and Robert Quigley of Cummington, Mass., Terrance and Isabel Mangan of Hilton Head, S.C., Mary Beth Mangan of Geneseo, N.Y., Dr. Patricia Hart Mangan and Leonardo Larouche of Covina, Ca., and William Mangan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He was a loving and devoted grandfather sharing his wisdom to Edward, Cristin-Erin, Leif, and Willow Mangan, Lisa, Jed, Garett, Bret, and Megan Varricchio. Michael, Taylor, and R. Connor Winn, and Charles Mangan, and six great grand-children, Devin, Kaylyn, Jack, Isabella, Dalton and Riley. Mr. Mangan (Daddy) was so loved and cherished by all who knew him; he will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 26th 2007, at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring, at 11am. Interment will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Wed. from 7-9pm and Thurs. 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Clinton Funeral Home Corner of Parrott and Pine Sts. Cold Spring.
