Hope Blooms to Fight Cancer
Annual American Cancer Society Daffodil Days flower sale kicks off

One of the greatest gifts you can give to someone facing cancer is hope. This spring, the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days will bring an overwhelming glow of golden daffodils (the flower of hope) to Putnam County.

This year hope also comes in the shape of a warm cuddly teddy bear, Hugh R. Hope, by Boyds Bears, to accompany the daffodils.

The Daffodil Days is a simple, yet effective way to help bring hope into the lives of people with cancer right in your community.

Every January and February, hundreds of volunteers mobilize to take orders for daffodils in businesses, schools, neighborhoods and places of worship to support research, education, advocacy and local patient service programs through the American Cancer Society. They also help spread the message of the importance of screening for colon cancer. For more than 30 years Daffodil Days has been a compassionate movement where neighbors come together, raising money and spirits to fight cancer.

"This is a great opportunity for people to come together and do something special," said Beverly Finnegan, regional vice president for the American Cancer Society of Hudson Valley. "When you participate in Daffodil Days, you aren't just buying and selling flowers, you're paving the way for revolutionary new cancer research. You're making sure that patients across the Hudson Valley have access to free support services. You're working to finally put an end to cancer and bring hope to the lives of people who have already been diagnosed."

The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers to pre-order daffodils in local businesses, schools, churches, and communities by calling the American Cancer Society at 1- 800-ACS-2345 or visiting www.cancer.org/daffodils. Advance orders will be taken until March 9th.Flowers arrive beginning the week of March 19th. Free delivery is available for orders over $50.00. Fresh Cut Bunches of 10 Daffodils are still only $10.00. For the second year, BoydsTM Bear and a Bunch, available for $25, includes a bunch of daffodils and a limited edition specially designed stuffed bear, Hugh R.Hope. One of last year's best selling items, Daffodil Days Potted Flowers are $10.00, and the very popular "Gift of Hope," fresh cut daffodils with vase delivered to a health care facility designated by the American Cancer Society, is $20.00.

The American Cancer Society's "Daffodil Days" program raises funds for:- *Research.
