200th Day by Day Agape Retreat Program to be Celebrated at Capuchin Youth & Family Ministries

High School Girls on DDA pause for a photo during their retreat
Capuchin Youth & Family Ministries (CYFM), located on Route 9D in Garrison, is pleased to announce that it will hold its 200th Day By Day Agape (DDA) Retreat for teens from February 8 through 11, 2007. Anyone who has ever been involved in a DDA retreat is invited to join them in our gymnasium from 1:00-2:30pm. for a social gathering and light refreshments, and then joyously celebrate the DDA 200 retreat closing and Mass at 3pm marking the conclusion of the teens' weekend experience.

Since 1973, thousands of teenagers have participated in the Day By Day Agape (DDA) retreat experience. Agape (ah' gah pay) is the Greek word for God's unconditional love. DDA is an experience of that love. This powerful four-day retreat experience, designed for high school students, strengthens person Christian commitment, supports the family as a Christian community, and enriches the parish by giving teens the tools to live their Catholic faith.

DDA programs are conducted approximately five times each year beginning on a Thursday evening and ending after the retreat closing Mass on Sunday evening. The single-gender retreats are held at CYFM's St. Francis Retreat Center where the participants eat and sleep, and are guided by CYFM's retreat team, peer ministers, and volunteers. "Nurturing the faith of teenagers and strengthening their family life," says CYFM's Executive Director, Tom Brinkmann, "is what we are all about through our DDA program. Peer ministers give the talks to the teen retreatants.

For the past 30 years, Capuchin Youth & Family Ministries, a ministry of the Capuchin Franciscans of the Province of St. Mary, has been reaching out to young people and their families through retreats, parish ministry and service to the poor. For more information about these and other programs at CYFM contact us at 845-424-3609 or check out our website at www.cyfm.org.
