Putnam County Seeks to Fill Sporting Advisory Board Position

Putnam County Executive Bob Bondi announced the resignation of Dennis Storen as the Putnam County Representative to the East of Hudson Sporting Advisory Committee of the Watershed Protection and Partnership Council. Storen has served in the position for nine years and his resignation will take effect following the March 2007 meeting of the Committee.

"Mr. Storen has ably served Putnam County on this Committee for many years," stated Bondi, "We are sorry to see such a dedicated resident leave this position as it serves a very important purpose in our region. With so much Putnam County land contained in the watershed and subject to very specific regulations, it is vital that our sportsman and recreational users have a voice in the decision making process that surround these issues."

The Sporting Advisory Committee is made up of ten members, two of whom must be representatives of Putnam County. The Committee consults with New York City, local governments and other departments on proposed and current recreational uses of any property that is acquired by the City pursuant to the watershed agreement. It then informs the Executive Committee of its findings and makes recommendations. The position is a volunteer position.

"We hope that we will be able to find another dedicated Putnam resident with an interest in outdoor recreational uses of these areas to fill Mr. Storen's place," commented Bondi. "It is an excellent way for a local sportsman to serve his or her community."

Anyone interested in the position can send a resume to the County Executive's Office, 40 Gleneida Ave., Carmel, NY 10512.
