Philipstown Father Arrested For Violating Order of Protection

On January 19, 2007, Putnam County Deputy Sheriff Jason Wollman was dispatched to a Town of Philipstown residence for a report of a violation of a protective order. Upon arrival at the East Mountain Road South residence, Deputy Wollman initiated an investigation into the complaint which revealed that on January 19th, the complainant's 9-year-old daughter received numerous phone calls from the defendant, her father. At the time of the incident there was a court issued order of protection barring the defendant from having any contact with the girl.

On January 20, 2007, Deputy Sheriff Scott Lombardo returned to the residence in order to interview the complainant's daughter. As a result of this interview and Deputy Wollman's initial investigation, Deputy Lombardo contacted the defendant, who turned himself in at Sheriff's Office headquarters later that day. Deputy Lombardo charged him with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor, for violating the court order. The defendant was released on his own recognizance pending a January 29, 2007 appearance in the Philipstown Justice Court.

If convicted of the contempt charge, the defendant, who is not being identified because doing so would also identify the victim, could face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
