Volunteers Needed to Help Seniors Prepare Tax Returns
Do you have an interest in tax work, experience in filing your own return electronically and a willingness to make a significant commitment during the months of January, February, March and April? Volunteer tax counselors are trained and certified to help people who are 60 and over with Federal and State returns. The Putnam Office for Aging, AARP, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) sponsor the tax program. The tax counseling program offers free tax assistance for low to moderate income seniors.
They are looking for retired business people who have the ability to file taxes electronically to help with this year's tax program. Even if you only have a few hours a week to spare, it would be a big help and will give you the satisfaction of knowing you are helping fellow seniors in need off this service. A training session was held on January 30th at the Kent Library, but if you would like to volunteer or need more information, please call Mary White, RSVP Director, at (845) 621-0600.
