Ol' Fashioned Maple Sugaring at Kenridge Farm
Get a taste of ol'fashioned maple sugaring as the Museum of the Hudson Highlands presents its "award winning" outdoor Maple Sugar Tours from February 17 through March 18. Tours start every half hour and run from 11:30am until 3pm every Saturday and Sunday.
A knowledgeable Museum educator will guide each 45- minute outdoor walking tour. This experience will include learning how sugar maple trees are "tapped", how to collect the sap, and how the sap boils down in an evaporator to become maple syrup.
Education Coordinator Judy Onufer, comments, "Sap is collected at a time when it is cold and often muddy and cold rain is common. Yet, those of us who are involved in maple sugaring love this time of year. The wildlife is active, the air is fresh, and the exercise feels great! So, please join us in stretching your legs, expanding your mind, and enjoy some fresh air - be sure to dress warmly and wear boots!"
Maple Sugaring takes place at Kenridge Farm on Route 9W in Cornwall. Admission $7. Museum Members $5. For more information or questions, call (845) 534-5506 ext. 204 or visit
