The Frisco Kid to Screen at Mid-Winter Jewish Film Festival
On Sunday February 11th at 4pm the Mid-Winter Jewish Film Festival at Temple Beth- El will begin with The Frisco Kid, the greatest cowboy ever to ride into the Wild West from Poland.
In this 1979 film a Polish Rabbi (Gene Wilder) wanders through the Old West on his way to lead a synagogue in San Francisco. Harrison Ford and Leo Fuchs are also cast in leading roles. The Rabbi, trusting soul that he is, is an easy target for the con men and criminals who prey on the immigrants arriving in the Philadelphia port, and beaten but unbowed continues his trek West. The film will be shown promptly at 4pm at Temple Beth-EI, 118 Grand Ave, Poughkeepsie. Suggested donation is $4 for community members; members discretion for Temple Beth-El congregants. For additional information, contact Susan Canning, program director at 454-0570.
