Tie-Making for Soldiers at East Fishkill Library
On Tuesday, February 13, 2007 there will be a 'Cool Ties for our Guys (and gals)' event at East Fishkill Libary. These special neckerchiefs, for our soldiers serving in the desert, are filled with absorbent crystals which, when wet, help soldiers maintain a cooler body temperature while serving in the hot desert climate.
Volunteers are needed to cut, sew, stuff, iron and label the ties. Bring your sewing machine, or iron if possible. The group will be working from noon to 3pm in the Alley Community Room. Any time you can volunteer during those hours will be appreciated. Last year we were able to send over 1000 ties to our service men and women to help them withstand the tremendous heat in the Middle East, please help us send as many for those serving this year in the desert climates.
