A Magic Night for Benji
Dear Editor:
On Saturday, George Stevenson said it best: "Benji… Magic, Magic, Magic!"
The perfect words to describe a great man who has now passed on. His sense of humor and guiding love for his friends and family stayed with him until the end; when he peacefully went towards the white light that was waiting for him.
Benji was a magic hub for a huge, vibrant community that stretched across the country - and in one way or another orbited him. He was a jovial, guiding, big-brother to everyone who was lucky enough to enjoy his friendship.
On Friday night his home community came out in his honor as one big family. Laughing, eating, and enjoying each others' company in a way that he embodied: no pretense, no personal agendas, just spending time in the glow of our common humanity.
When word went out that there was going to be an event on his behalf, there were no questions asked; everybody stepped up to say, "How can I help?" Through their extremely generous contributions of funds, and heart-felt good wishes our hometown shone more brightly than anyone could have imagined.
Our enduring gratitude goes out to everyone.
Goodbye, Benj, you will be missed… but we will forever hold your place in the circle open.
