February is Library Lover's Month @ Your Library
Dear Editor,
February is Library Lover's Month at the Butterfield Library. Library Lovers' Month is a month-long celebration of public, school, and private libraries of all types. This is a time for everyone to recognize the important role libraries play in the cultural and economic success of local communities and the nation as a whole. Whether they depend on the library for best-selling books, children's story hours, educational programs or access to computers and the Internet, the residents of Philipstown are using the library like never before!
Statistics from our 2006 annual report to New York State reveal that the community used the library 21% more than they in 2005. You borrowed over 38,000 items from the Butterfield Library in 2006 - compared to the 8,000 items borrowed in 2000!
The Butterfield Library is celebrating Library Lover's Month with a ton of fun and educational programs including Defensive Driving Course, Bouncing Babies playtime, Little Bookworms and Reading Rabbits story hours, craft programs, Valentines' Craft Party, Origami Workshop, Family Movie Nite, and American Girl Doll workshops.
But the fun doesn't stop there - in March you can enjoy an a visit from Peter Handrinos, sports authority and author of The Best New York Sports Arguments; Women's Work: a tribute to women's history month with Cecilia Durkin; Digital Photography Workshop with Sally Delmerico; a visit from the 4-H Puppeteers; Childs Safety Day; and a visit from retro-folk musicians Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson.
