Harlem Wizards to Take on Philipstown Bravehearts in Benefit Game at Garrison School

The legendary Harlem Wizards, a professional entertainment basketball team, will compete against the hard-charging Philipstown Bravehearts in a high-stakes, benefit game set for Thursday February 15th in the Garrison School gym. Doors will open at 6:30pm for the 7- 9pm family-centered competition, which is organized by the Garrison Children's Education Fund, Inc. and the Garrison PTA. Tickets are $15 each, and can be purchased by calling Sheryl Ferguson at 265-2088 or contacting her at sakiser@verizon.net. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Early tickets sales have been strong and seats are limited, according to Ms. Ferguson. Proceeds from the game will go to fund a variety of educational enrichment projects sponsored by the Fund and the PTA.

The Philipstown Bravehearts is a pick-up team of seasoned players including teachers, parents, young adults and community members whose skills have been honed by drills and practice. One player, who requested anonymity said, "Playing the Harlem Wizards will be a piece of cake. The Philipstown Bravehearts are ready for 'em." Early birds of all ages will be able to watch the teams warm up before the big game while enjoying a delicious all beef hot dogs, popcorn, tasty snacks, and drinks, all for nominal prices. A special feature for eager young fans will be a not-to-be-missed, free-throw competition during Half-Time.

The Harlem Wizards, now celebrating their 40th anniversary, features highly competitive basketball, theatrical entertainment and comedy routines. The team includes former college stars and NBA players and has toured in countries all over the world.
