USMA Band's Chamber Music Recital Series Continues with Trombone Program
The United States Military SFC Wozniak will perform Academy Band's Chamber Music Series will present two bass trombonists in a joint recital on Sunday March 4, 2007 at 3pm at West Point's Jewish Chapel. Sergeants First Class Teddy Arnold of the USMA Band Jazz Knights and Matthew Wozniak of the USMA Concert Band will perform a variety of jazz and classical music. This event is free and open to the public.
SFC Arnold will perform Carvon, written by Curtis Fuller and Too Late Now by the composers Lane and Lerner. He will also present two original compositions entitled Sundancer (written for his daughter) and Kidd Stuff, a bebop tune inspired by the playful nature of children. He will be joined by Staff Sergeants Derrick James on alto saxophone, Dan Pierce on trombone, Vito Speranza on trumpet, Brandon Nelson on bass, Scott Arcangel on piano, Mr. Ernie Colon on drums, and Mr. Tomas Lopez on percussion. New Orleans, written by Eugene Bozza. This piece was written for Paul Bernard who was the bass trombonist at the Paris Conservatoire. He will perform this with pianist Mr. Michael Fennelly. SFC Wozniak will also perform Daniel Schnyder's Trio for Soprano Saxophone, Bass Trombone and Piano, which will feature his wife, Lois Hicks-Wozniak on soprano saxophone and Mr. Fennelly on piano.
