Howland Library Anime Club Participates in 'Models on Main Street'
The brainchild of local artist Victoria Raabin, "Models on Main Street" is about to become a reality in Beacon. Over thirty businesses and organizations along Main St. in Beacon have agreed to take a plain cotton model (doll) and create something out of it. The teens in Howland Public Library's Anime Club did just that. During the month of December, creative juices flowed as club members created their own Anime character named Nova.
Anime, the art of Japanese animation, became the theme as teens also submitted their artwork as a background to the photograph of the finished model. This photo along with the photos of the other Models on Main Street will be on display at the Muddy Cup in Beacon beginning in March. The opening will be held on 2nd Saturday, March 10th at 7pm.
Look for the Anime Club's model, Nova, and the group's artwork to be featured in the front window of Howland Public Library during the month of March. The Anime Club meets every 4th Friday of the month from 3-5 pm. It is open to teens between the ages of 12-18. For more information about the Anime Club or any other teen programs, contact Ginny Figlia, Youth Services Librarian, at 831-1134, ex.103, or visit their website at
