bau Beacon Presents Panel Discussion with Curators

bau is pleased to present "The Shifting Center" a panel discussion among the participants of bau26: Curators as Artists on February 25, 2007 at 4pm.

A panel discussion entitled "The Shifting Center" is to be held at Beacon Artist Union Sunday, February 25 at 4 pm. Moderated by bau member Christopher Staples, this event is in tandem with the current exhibit "bau 26: Curators as Artists" showing through March 4, 2007.

This is a rare opportunity to hear from 5 of Hudson Valley curator-artists who will take a deeper look at the issues influencing artists, gallerists and the business of art today. With a dynamic and growing Hudson Valley art scene, the status of NYC as the center for art today is in question. How does the Hudson Valley compete with New York City? Does the Internet have influence or change the way collectors find art and artists? Questions from the audience will also be taken.

The discussion will be moderated by bau member Christopher Staples and panelists are:

Karlos Carcamo (GO NORTH - A Space for Contemporary Art, Beacon)

Marcy B. Freedman (artist, art historian and curator, Peekskill)

Lynn Palumbo (Dutchess Community College, Poughkeepsie)

Ed Smith (Marist College, Poughkeepsie)

Carl Van Brunt (Van Brunt Gallery, Beacon)

bau is located at 161 Main Street, Beacon. For more information call 845-440-7584 or visit
