Abe Lincoln Visits Haldane

Abe Lincoln, a.k.a. John Zuvic, visited Haldane first grade students on his birthday to talk to the children about his life. He told them about his childhood and the one room schoolhouse he attended. He discussed the Civil War and slavery.

The children were extremely knowledgeable about Cold Spring's war involvement including the chain across the river and the Parrott Gun. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and one child asked if it was true that Mr. Lincoln sometimes put notes to himself in his hat. To the children's amazement he did have a note stashed in his hat.

Many thanks to Cold Spring's own Honest Abe, John Zuvic, for visiting Haldane. Mr. Zuvic's children Will, Jackson and Avery are Haldane students.
