Motorist and Passenger Arrested on Drug and Vehicle Charges in Carmel
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that on February 12, 2007 at approximately 1430 hours, Deputy Luigi Osso observed a white 1998 Honda Civic traveling in a northerly direction on Hill Street in the Town of Carmel operating with an expired Inspection sticker. The deputy performed a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Daniel J. Brennen, 28, of 3090 Wharton Drive, Yorktown Heights.
Upon a Department of Motor Vehicle check, it was discovered that Mr. Brennen's driving privileges were revoked in the State of New York. Mr. Brennan was placed under arrest for Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the third degree. Upon questioning Mr. Brennen also revealed that he was in possession of a Ziploc bag containing a green leafy substance believed to marijuana. A passenger, later identified as Joseph A. DePippo, Jr., 27, of 84 Carey Street, Mahopac revealed that he was in possession of a pipe containing marijuana residue.
Both parties were processed at the scene and issued appearance tickets to appear in the Justice Court In the Town of Carmel on February 26, 2007 for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Mr. Brennen was issued two traffic tickets, one for aggravated Unlicensed Operation and one for Expired Vehicle Inspection, both pending a February 26, 2007 court date.
