Mark Wick Appointed Director for Manitoga's Summer Nature and Design Camp
Manitoga/The Russel Wright Design Center is pleased to announce that Mark Wick will assume the helm of their Summer Nature and Design Camp program this summer as Camp Director. A fourth-grade teacher at Haldane Elementary in Cold Spring, Mark holds a Masters in Environmental Education and a passion for the great outdoors.
Known for integrating his own pet reptiles into his classroom curriculum, as well as his very popular after-school 'reptile and amphibian' enrichment classes, Mark uses his knowledge and love of nature to inspire and motivate children. Manitoga's 75-acre Woodland Garden, which our campers explore each summer, will offer him a vast natural setting in which to share his enthusiasm.
The camp's five one-week sessions run from July 9 through August 10 and are open to children between 5 and 12 years of age. Campers are divided into groups according to age and grade and enjoy a variety of nature-oriented activities including hiking, art and sports. Themes this year include reptiles and amphibians, water worlds, hiking, theater, ecosystems and animals.
Manitoga, home and woodland gardens of pioneer industrial designer Russel Wright, is located in Garrison, along Route 9D between Route 403 and the Bear Mountain Bridge. It is one of the few 20th century modern homes to be open to the public in New York State and Putnam County's only National Historic Landmark.
This season's brochure is now available; call the Manitoga office at 424-3812 to request a copy. The brochure may also be viewed online at

Early registration discounts are available, as sessions fill up quickly.
Join them for Camp Open Day on Sunday, May 6 from 2- 4 pm and meet the camp staff, learn about the program and hike Manitoga's trails.
