Donors Needed for First Annual Hudson Highland Girl Scout Blood Drive Area supply still low; March 24 event will take place at Our Lady of Loretto
 | | Cold Spring's Sarah Costigan sponsors the drive as part of her Gold Award community service project |
| The need for blood is one of the greatest in the world. According to the Hudson Valley Blood Center, nine out of ten of us will need blood some time in our lives. Blood is in constant demand for treatment of accident cases, cancer victims, hemophiliacs and for use during surgery. You probably know someone in these groups of people.
We have a shortage of blood on our hospital shelves and we are asking everyone to donate. On March 24th 2007 from 10am- 3:30pm, Sarah Costigan is hosting the First Annual Hudson Highland Girl Scout blood drive at Our Lady of Loretto. Sarah has been a Girl Scout in Cold Spring since kindergarten. She currently attends Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie.
This year Sarah is working to get her Gold Award, which is the highest award in Girl Scouting. Only 5% of girl scouts actually go on to achieve this award. Every Gold Award consists of a certain pre-requisite steps and finally a community service project. After Sarah gets this years blood drive up and running our local Girl Scout community, Hudson Highlands will take over to make it a yearly event.
Please come and support Sarah and our local Girl Scouts on March 24th and donate your blood. Remember by just giving 15 minutes of your day to Sarah you may be saving someone's life. Please call Sarah at 265-4718 so she can set up an appointment for you.
