Ol' Fashioned Maple Sugaring Continues at Museum of Hudson Highlands
Get a taste of ol'fashioned maple sugaring as the Museum of the Hudson Highlands continues Maple Sugar Tours from March 3 until March 18. Tours start every half hour and run from 11:30am until 3pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Museum Educators will guide 45-minute outdoor walking tours. This experience will include learning how to tap a maple tree, how to collect the sap, and how the sap boils down in an evaporator to become maple syrup.
Education Coordinator, Judy Onufer, comments, "Sap is collected at a time when some snow remains on the ground, it is muddy, and cold rain is common. Yet, those of us who are involved in maple sugaring love this time of year. The wildlife is active, the air is fresh, and the exercise feels great! So, please join us in stretching your legs, expanding your mind, and enjoy some fresh air - be sure to dress warmly and wear boots!"
Maple Sugaring takes place at Kenridge Farm on Route 9W in Cornwall. Admission $7. Museum Members $5.
