Brewster Library to Host Special Concert For Children and Families
Dave Ruch will give a special concert for children and families entitled "Traditional Songs of New York State" on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Brewster Public Library, 79 Main Street, at 2pm.
Dave is a special musician who sings and plays music for all ages on an intriguing assortment of instruments including mandolin, guitar, washtub bass, 5-string banjo and jaw harp. His concerts are characterized by a warm rapport with the audience, excellent musicianship, enlightening historical information and just the right amount of humor.
This all-ages concert takes the audience on a musical trip around the State to sample (and sing along with) some traditional folk songs from our past. Ruch says "not only are these great songs that we don't hear much anymore, but they tell us so much about what life was like back then".
A professional musician and educator based in Buffalo, NY. Dave gives over 325 concerts & workshops each year for schools, libraries, folk festivals, historical societies, museums and community events.
This lecture is supported in part by the We the People Program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
