Donating Blood Saves Lives and is Cool Too
Dear Editor,

First I would like to congratulate all the people of this town that donated at the Blood Drive on the 16th of February. For all of you that didn't go out and donate because of the weather I have an opportunity for you.

I am hosting the First Annual Hudson Highland Girls Scout Blood Drive as my Girl Scout Gold Award project. It would be great if you all would come out to donate. I just turned 16 on Febuary 28th, so I am going to be donating for the first time on March 24th. Wouldn't it be cool if we donated together?

The Blood Drive is on March 24th from 10am- 3:15pm at Our Lady of Loretto parish hall in Cold Spring.

Did you know that by the time you turn 75 years old you will need to have at least one kind of blood transfusion? Due to the bad weather recently the shelves at hospitals are low on blood. Hospitals like to have a 7-10 day supply of blood on their shelves but right now they only have a 2-3 day blood supply. When you come to donate on the 24th you could be adding blood on the shelves of your local hospital and you could also be 3-4 persons lives. When you donate a pint of your blood they break it down into different parts and by taking three parts out of your blood you are saving three persons. Thank you for donating your blood and saving lives.
