Forum to be Held by Putnam County Agencies Serving the Disabled this Saturday

The Putnam County Office for People with Disabilities, Putnam County Coordinating Council for People with Disabilities, and the Putnam Community Services Board, in partnership with various community agencies that serve people with disabilities, will hold the 2007 Putnam County Legislative Forum on Saturday, March 17th.

The Forum is an opportunity for people with disabilities, their families and friends to meet directly with government officials on the federal, state and local levels. It is an opportunity to voice concerns on issues facing Putnam County residents with disabilities and to have an influence on local government plans and budgets.

Among the topics addressed at the Forum are disability benefits, health care, accessibility, housing, day services, recreation programs, vocational opportunities, transportation, early intervention, and services for people with autism.

The Forum will be held at the Bureau of Emergency Services Training and Operations Center, at 112 Old Route 6, at the back of the Donald B. Smith Government Campus. Sign-in and refreshments will begin at 8am; presentations to the panel of government officials will run from 9 to 10:30; input to the local government plan will follow from 10:30 to noon.
