On the evening of March 8, 2007, twenty-two Putnam Valley High School students were inducted into Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School Junior and Community College Mathematics Club.

PVHS math teacher and club advisor, Mrs. Jerri Cohen, was the host for the evening's festivities, which celebrated inductees Anastasia Bailhache, Perri Berner, Stephanie Borrell, Dillon Chesnut, Matthew Cordaro, David Goldfarb, Victoriea Hamilton, Christopher Harding, Madeline Kane, Kristen Macher, Ronald Mahnert, Katherine Mahoney, Lauren McIntyre, Julian Santo, Nicole Scott, Katelyn Sillery, Natalia Stockinger, Nicole Torsiello, Kristina Vucetic, Tina Wallach, Christina Walsh, and Jonathan Zupan. This is more than twice the number of students inducted in 2006, explained an enthusiastic Mrs. Cohen. The first order of business for this year's crop of inductees will be to volunteer at the Ten County Math Conference, which Putnam Valley is hosting on Saturday, March 10th, she added.

Mu Alpha Theta President Peter Ries conducted the induction proceedings with the assistance of Vice-President Bailey O'Brien, Treasurer Ohn Soon Kim, and Secretary Hannah Schmidt. Inductees Madeline Kane, Kristina Vucetic, Anastasia Bailhache, and Katelyn Sillery spoke on the topics of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character, respectively. Putnam Valley Board of Education trustee and professional statistician, Dr. Guy M. Cohen, was the Keynote Speaker. The ceremony included the presentation of a pin, certificate, and membership card to each inductee. Mu Alpha Theta was chartered at PVHS in April of 2002.
