Mental Health Association Introduces a Combating Childhood Obesity Educational Program
An MVP Health Care Appleby Award was recently presented to MHA in Dutchess County. This award was used to purchase two new puppets, Zach Jones and Rev. Robinson and the "Combating Childhood Obesity and Overweight" curriculum for the Kids on the Block puppet program.
The Kids on the Block is a troupe of educational puppets designed to teach children about disability awareness, medical/ educational differences, and social concerns. The Mental Health Association's Kids on the Block program is currently accepting requests for performances for children age 5-13 at no cost to you. If your organization would like us to present this new program or another one in their repertoire please contact Pamela S. Kultsar at (845) 473-2500 ext. 1317.
In order to provide these programs to children they are seeking volunteers interested in educating children through puppetry. This program is a dynamic way to reach children and help them learn to accept everyone and cope with their feelings, fears and fustrations.
The MHA in Dutchess County has been offering programs of advocacy and support, community education and services to people with mental illness, their families and friends, mental health professionals and the general public since 1954.
