Audubon Dinner Will Feature Talk on Climate Change by Andy Revkin
If you haven't yet been to an annual dinner of the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society (PHAS), take the opportunity to treat yourself to a special evening on Saturday, March 31. The evening will be especially exciting because popular speaker, author, NY Times environmental journalist, and Garrison resident Andy Revkin will share his expertise on our changing climate.
This 6th Annual Dinner will be held at the Highland Lodge of Taconic Outdoor Education Center in Fahnestock State Park. The evening starts at 5 with wine, nibbles, and socializing, then raffles for generously donated prizes such as dinner for two at Cathryn's, lunch for two at Café Maya, dinner for two at Riverview, bluebird houses, a framed print by an Audubon web-masthead nature photographer, special books, and more. A delicious hot buffet follows. (If you wish wine with dinner, please bring your own.) The dessert course starts the feature program at 7. Also, Andy will be selling and signing his latest book, The North Pole Was Here: Puzzles & Perils at the Top of the World, and he is most graciously donating the profits from the evening's sale to the chapter.
Carolyn Smith, PHAS President, praised the dinner committee (Paul Kuznia, Connie Mayer-Bakall, and Adele Stern) for its dedication to all the details of organizing a convivial and interesting evening. She expects the Board will be greeting many new faces - members and non-members alike - and renewing acquaintances with previous attendees of these special events.
