Program for Women with Cancer and Their Children

Support Connection, Inc. announces an upcoming free program for women with cancer and their children. It will take place at the Support Connection office, 360 Underhill Avenue, Yorktown Heights. "The Mother-Child Connection," Six consecutive Mondays beginning on April 16th from 7-8:30pm: This six-session support group focuses on how cancer affects the entire family. The group's facilitators will be Debbie Dorfman, LMSW and Denise Denison, LMSW, both social workers at Lakeland Copper Beach Middle School.

They will conduct simultaneous Parent and Child workshops to help the mothers and the children build connections with one another based on their shared experiences. A cancer diagnosis can produce fears and uncertainties for mothers and children, making it hard for them to find a balance between day-to-day life and the issues that arise from living with cancer. Support Connection will provide a safe, supportive environment where mothers and children can express their concerns regarding cancer and its impact on the family.

Participation in The Mother- Child Connection is free but pre-registration is required. For information or to register, call Support Connection at 914- 962-6402.

Support Connection, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization based in Yorktown Heights that provides free, confidential support services to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
