Library Vote Should be Considered Certified
Dear Editor:

As a resident of Cold Spring with two children who frequent the library and cherish the many programs the library provides, I am deeply concerned about this issue. I, along with many concerned residents who campaigned and voted for this referendum, cannot get an answer to why these funds are now being withheld. The referendum was passed and was never contested publicly.

There isn't a person out there who doesn't appreciate the value of libraries for securing the past, present and future. How rare it is that a community is given an opportunity to actually vote their support for a library? The vote of the people was to support this library and to keep it going strong in our community. We all know that the hard-earned support of a plurality is rare and doesn't come easy. There should never be a reason why the will of the people in a majority should not be fulfilled.

The fact is the vote was not contested and should be considered certified and the Butterfield Library should get the support the majority of voters intended.
