Hazel Lewis Lepore

Hazel Lewis Lepore, a lifelong resident of Beacon and Cold Spring, died on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at St Lukes Hospital in Cornwall. She was born on May 26, 1923 in Dutchess Junction to Mary Mitchell and Mansfield Lewis. She was educated in Dutchess Junction and Beacon schools. On October 2, 1941, she married her late husband Michael Lepore, of Cold Spring. They were married 61 years until he predeased her in May of 2003 and she chose his birthday to join him in eternal peace.

She was a member of St. Joachim's parish and until her health started to fail, she was active in the St. Joachim's women's Parish Club, the Pocohontas and the Dutchess Junction Fire Company Auxiliary, and most recently was a volunteer at the Fishkill Health Center, a "job" that she truly loved.

She is survived by three children, Louise Volbert and her husband Arthur of St. Petersburg, Florida, Sharon Lee and her husband Bill, of Beacon and Michael Lepore Jr. and his wife Nancy of Stanfordville. She is also survived by the granddaughter that she raised, Kelley Ann Olley and her husband Tom of Montgomery as well as 7 other grandchildren, Michele Lopez, Gina Guarino, Jack, Jay and Jennifer Catalano and Darcy and Kimberly Lepore; 12 great grandchildren, Kate, Maggie and TJ Olley, Leslie and Alexis Garcia, Alicia Lopez, Cory and Nick Catalano, Zachary and Kailyn Hackbart and Rebecca and Madison DeLeo; and one great great grandson, Antonio Smallwood.

She is also survived by a sister Florence Lewis, a brother Arthur Lewis and a nephew Clifford Lewis, with whom she had a very special relationship, as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by sisters Catherine Vail, and Emma Casey, and brothers Mansfield Lewis Jr, and Robert and Frank Joyce.

A mass was celebrated on Monday, March 19 at St. Joachim's Church, Beacon. Internment will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of the Libby Funeral Home, Beacon.
