Euphonium Recital at West Point
The United States Military Academy Band continues its Chamber Music Recital Series with a solo euphonium performance by Sergeant First Class Barry Morrison. Held at West Point's Jewish Chapel on Sunday, April 1st at 3pm, the recital will include a number of selections that showcase Sgt. 1st Class Morrison's technical prowess and warm, beautiful sound.
After opening the performance with Elegy composed by John Stevens, Sgt. 1st Class Morrison will perform an arrangement of Antonio Capuzzi's Concerto for Double Bass. Morrison will then fuse two individual compositions to feature the lyricism of the euphonium. Eric Ewazen's Concerto for Euphonium will follow. Ewazen's composition was premiered by the Butler University Wind Ensemble.
Interestingly, the ensemble is conducted by USMA Band Alumnus John Graulty. The program will conclude with Facilita, an exciting concert closer composed by John Hartmann. Like all of the band's performances, this recital is free and open to the public. Please stay tuned to the band's website and concert hotline for further information.
Please allow extra travel time for the 100% vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at Stony Lonesome and Thayer gates. Due to changing security requirements at West Point, call the Academy Band's hotline at 845-938- 2617, or check
