Flying Swine Debuts at Both the Depot Theatre and Howland Center

Flying Swine, the Hudson Valley's most exciting new professional theatre, presents the first in a series of Porcine Previews (pre-production readings of a plethora of plays). On The Verge, Or The Geography of Yearning by Eric Overmyer will be read this Friday, 3/30 at the Philipstown Depot Theatre in Garrison, and Saturday, 3/31 at The Howland Cultural Center in Beacon. Performances are at 8pm both nights, free to the public. Donations gladly accepted.

Donald Kimmel, Artistic Director of Flying Swine, invites one and all to join three intrepid Victorian lady explorers as they whack the bush of Terra Incognita, beset by an Alsatian cannibal, a Yeti, a Dragon Lady and a swingin' lounge show singer! The New York Times called On The Verge "A frolicsome jaunt through a continuum of space, time, history, geography, feminism and fashion…Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari...spinning into time travel."

Flying Swine is a not-forprofit professional theatre company based in Beacon. Past performances include The Pitchmen, at Beacon Artists Union, and a workshop production of Signs of Life, by Deborah Brevoort, featuring Marcia DeBonis and Dan DaSilva, in association with the Drama Desk Award winning Off- Broadway company The Barrow Group. Porcine Previews provide a monthly peek into the Flying Swine production hangar as the pigs prepare for liftoff. On The Verge will be read by actors Kate Hall, Nell Gwynn, Vivia Font and Donald Kimmel. Future Porcine Previews by playwrights such as Caryl Churchill, John Patrick Shanley, Athol Fugard, Alan Arkin and Terence McNally will be announced shortly. Reservations, call the Swineline- 845-230-7010. For directions, go to
