Easter Celebrations at Graymoor
The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement will begin their Holy Week observances at Graymoor with the Blessing of the Palms on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 11am in Pilgrim Hall. At 4pm on Palm Sunday there will be a Taize Prayer Service around the cross in St. Francis Chapel. Taize prayer is meditative and has been described as having neither beginning nor end.
On Spy Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 8pm, there will be a Communal Celebration of Penance and on April 5th, Holy Thursday at 8pm a special mass of the Lord's Supper will be held with a Procession to Repository. On Good Friday, April 6, 2007, the observance continues with the Celebration of the Lord's Passion at 3pm and the Stations of the Cross (outdoors, weather permitting) at 8pm.
On Holy Saturday, April 7th, the Great Vigil of Easter will begin at 8pm. All are invited to join Fr. James Gardiner, SA, Director of the Spiritual Life Center for the blessing of the new fire and the lighting of the Pascal candle.
On Easter Sunday, there will be a sunrise service at 6:29am near the St. Francis Chapel bell tower as well as the regular 11am Sunday Eucharist service in Pilgrim Hall.
All are invited to attend the Easter festivities. For those wishing to spend Holy Week in prayer and reflection, the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center is sponsoring a Holy Week Retreat that would begin on Spy Wednesday and end after dinner on Easter Sunday.
