Local Author Sally Cook Reads From her Childrens' Books at Merritt Bookstore

Are you a baseball fanatic? Or a tireless youngster who refuses to go to bed? Perhaps you know someone who is. Author Sally Cook will be in town to share her two books, Hey Batta Batta Swing: The Wild Old Days of Baseball and Good Night Pillow Figh. at Merritt Bookstore located at 66 Main Street, Cold Spring, on Saturday, April 14th, from 11am to 1pm.

For the younger crowd, Sally Cook will share Good Night Pillow Fight, a colorful and captivating account of children who just don't want to go to bed. For the older gang, Cook's Hey Batta Batta Swing!: The Wild Old Days of Baseball will be read: a fun, colorful, and historical account of America's favorite pastime. Cook explores baseball's most famed players like Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. The book describes uniforms, players' numbers, team names and players' nicknames. Facts and anecdotes are written in a tuneful tone accompanied by charming vintage illustrations. The book will be handed out by the current New York Yankees at their opening day dinner.

To celebrate her Merritt Bookstore event, Sally Cook is offering a free book to the child who can guess the most slang terms. As for the father who is able do the same, he will win a cool and colorful tie - a baseball themed one, of course! Every child who attends will take home baseball cards adorned with cool baseball terms.

Sally Cook lives in the Hudson Valley with her family. After graduating college, she moved to the Big Apple and worked as a journalist for the Associated Press. After interviewing numerous children's book authors, Sally decided it was her time to write. In addition to these books, Sally is the co-author of Another Season: A Coach's Story of Raising an Exceptional Son.

For more information, call the Merritt Bookstore at 265- 9100.
