Putnam County Youth Forum Invites Local Students to Conference

Many teens have concerns and opinions that reflect their particular generation. Discussing those issues with other high school students allows an opportunity to share both problems and solutions. Whether it's getting a different point of view from another student or learning information from a qualified professional in a particular field, a special event for teens that encourages dialogue will take place on Tuesday April 24, 2007 at the Clearpool Education Center in Kent.

The 13th Annual Putnam County Youth Forum, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension, is an all day conference concentrating on topics that are of interest to High School students. This program invites approximately 150 students representing every High School in Putnam County to participate and also includes individual students who may attend school outside of the county.

Students, freshman through senior year, are invited. Topics usually address issues relating to college, the law, addictions, sex, stress, and relationships. The setting is confidential to encourage active and candid participation.

Each individual high school provides transportation. It is necessary to obtain permission from parents and the student's school administration to attend. Interested students should see their Student Assistance Counselors, visit the Principals office or call Cornell Cooperative Extension at 845-278-6738 for additional information. Early registration is encouraged as accommodations fill quickly.
