Holy Week Begins at First Presbyterian Church

Come and celebrate the spirituality of Holy Week at First Presbyterian Church of Philipstown, 10 Academy St., in Cold Spring.

This year they are offering a variety of services beginning with the moving Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service and ending Easter Sunday with their Family Easter Service followed by the Great Easter Egg Hunt for Kids and then the Traditional Service which concludes joyously with singing of the Hallelujah Chorus.

The Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service on will be held Thursday, April 5th at 7:30pm. This service is one of the most moving of the church year. As the service proceeds and the communion service has concluded, the sanctuary gradually darkens and concludes in total darkness. We then experience, in sound, the nailing of Jesus to the cross and leave the church in silence.

The Easter Sunday services begin at 9am with the Family Service which is perfect for families with young children. Following this service at 10a.m. is the popular Great Easter Egg Hunt for all children on the front lawn. The final service is the Traditional Easter Service at 10:30am which features the Chancel Choir and special music. This service concludes with singing the Hallelujah Chorus, sung by the entire congregation.

Both services are officiated by Rev. Leslie Mott and music conducted by Music Director Tom McCoy. For more information contact First Presbyterian Church of Philipstown at 265-3220.
