Helping Children Deal with Change and Loss Focus of Program to be Held at Putnam Hospital
On Thursday, April 26th, Putnam Hospital Center and Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam, Inc., will offer a free program that will teach parents, teachers, child care providers and other caregivers techniques to help children deal with change and loss. "Sometimes Life Hurts" will be held from 6:30 to 8pm in the ground floor cafe classrooms at Putnam Hospital Center, located at 670 Stoneleigh Avenue in Carmel.
Change and loss are part of every child's life, experiencing "hurts" from the moment they are born, even before they have the ability to understand what is happening to them and before they can use words to ask for help. This workshop will explore when is the right time to have a conversation about the "hurts" (changes, losses and death) they are experiencing now and in the future and the best way to take advantage of teachable moments. The program will be presented by professional counselors from Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam.
The program is open to the public and offered free of charge but registration is required. For further information or to register, please call Ruth Commercio at Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam, Inc., at 914-666-4228, Ext. 336.
