On March 24th 2007 Sarah Costigan ran the First Annual Hudson Highland Girl Scout Blood Drive in the Our Lady of Loretto Parish Hall. Sarah ran the blood drive as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award and also for the importance in the need for blood.
Out of the 85 donors that came to the drive, 76 of them were able to donate and they collected 76 pints of blood. Every worker who came to take the blood was very impressed with the cheerful turnout of the Cold Spring community. If it weren't for the donors this blood drive would not have been successful. A letter was received in the mail this week congratulating the organizer on the drive and also relating that all the blood had been broken down into its different components and distributed to nearby hospitals.
Sarah Costigan offers thanks to all who supported this
blood drive and asks everyone to "keep your eye open for other blood drives in
our area. If you would like to know more about the blood drives all around New
York and New Jersey you can go to the Blood Centers website at www.nyblood.org."
Sarah would like to "Thank all of you for supporting me on the way to achieving
my Gold Award in Girl Scouts."
