Extend Poll Hours to Allow Morning Votes
Dear Editor:
I am a commuter with odd hours - I suspect one of manywho lives in Cold Spring.
Prior to the last village election, I applied for an absentee ballot, since my work regularly takes me to New Jersey during the polling hours of Noon to 9 PM.
I was denied an absentee ballot because the rules apparently differentiate between being out of town in the normal course of the work day and out of town on voting day only.
I've always tried to engage as a citizen by voting in every election, but the village election is the only one with polls that open as late as noon.
Would the village please consider budgeting for extended hours?
