IBM Engineers Week Celebrated at Haldane
Jon Champlin, an IBM engineer, visited Haldane sixth grade science classes for the third year to share his knowledge about engineering with the students. He explained about what engineers do and how they work. He showed them a video about the facets of engineering in the environment including production and technology.
The children were challenged to work in groups to create a free standing structure using only one 81/2" sheet of paper and 3" of tape. The group whose sculpture stood the longest was the winners. The novice engineers received calculators, pencils and zipper pulls through the generosity of IBM. Many thanks to Jon, a Haldane graduate for sharing his expertise with the students.
