Clean-Up Day Gets Tots Park Ready for Spring

Volunteer Shannon McElroy of Cold Spring applies a coat of fresh paint at the Tots Park Spring Clean-Up Day.
More than forty parents and volunteers turned out to give the Cold Spring Tots Park a "spring cleaning" today. Fresh paint and busy rakes signaled the promise of spring for local children, despite chilly skies above.

The Village of Cold Spring Tiny Tots Park at McConville Park, located at Morris Avenue and Haldane Street, is a playground for children aged 5 and under. The park is a beloved gathering place for youngsters and families from Cold Spring and neighboring communities. "The Tots Park is such an asset to the village," said Eugenie Milroy of Cold Spring, who is a leader of the Friends of the Tots Park group that organized the event. "Here, our little ones can play together in a safe, fun outdoor environment."

To spruce up the park for a new season, volunteers cleaned and painted the play equipment and refreshed the protective ground covering, which serves to soften falls. "In the longer term, the park will need more significant improvements," said volunteer Felice Ramella of Cold Spring. "Today's Spring Clean-Up is about families who use and love the park coming out to show their support with some hard work!" Special thanks to C&E Hardware for their generous donation of non-toxic, child-friendly paints.

The Friends of the Tots Park is a group of interested parents, volunteers, and others who support the Cold Spring Tots Park and its continuing maintenance. For more information or to volunteer, contact Beth Edelson at
